Les is a twenty-year veteran of the United States Navy, in which he provided direct medical support to the United States Marine Corps and Naval Special Warfare. He has numerous combat deployments to the Middle East and Africa. Les has a Master’s Degree in Emergency & Disaster Management from American Military University.
Following his military service, Les worked as a Medical Operations Officer for the Department of Defense’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Response Force. He has extensive experience in both CBRN and All-Hazards response, planning, training, exercise development, and operations. In 2012, he participated in the Superstorm Sandy response to New York And New Jersey. In 2020, he was the acting Medical Operations Officer for the Joint Task Force supporting New England’s, New York's, and New Jersey’s COVID response operations. In his role as an operations officer and lead planner, Les has supported numerous National Special Security Events, regional inter-agency response teams, and exercises at the national, regional, and local levels.
In addition to consulting, Les continues his lifetime of service as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the town of Castle Valley, Utah. In this capacity, he has developed Castle Valley’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and operational annexes. He coordinates with county and state planners to address the specific needs of this rural community. Les is also an active firefighter for the Castle Valley Fire Department.
Les is married with three grown children and one grandchild. He spends his spare time with family, helping his community and enjoying the outdoors.
